Tin Can Bay is my next stop and my first volunteer job

My last night in Noosa tonight. I’ve had a wonderful weekend even though I never put my bikini on! Tomorrow I’ll take off for Tin Can Bay, near Rainbow Beach which is my stop after that. I’ll be working on a boat for accommodation. Yupp I’ll also spend my birthday apparently with an old man whom I don’t know 😛

So far I’ve been taking day by day on this trip, deciding what to do, where to go and how. It all works good. Even though you meet obstacles along the way such as bad weather or wonderful amazing people! Now I have some stops to come but no dates set really.

The plan is then, when the weather is clear again, to visit Fraser Island from Rainbow Beach. Then I have work again up north.

Noosa

19-24 June
Noosa, on the sunshine coast, is a nice little place. The good weather continues. (do I really need to say that? Yes I sooo!). Tihi

Been around in their small national park a bit. Found a nice beach for my self the other day and then I decided it was time to hit the waves for two days 🙂

And Syrian is actually tasty!

BRIZZY aka Brisbane for us in the northern hemispehere

14-19th June
Finally goooood weather! Love it that you can travel across seasons here to get what you want! Hehe. So 23 degrees have been warming me up and I have once again met awesome people who have made my stay in beautiful Brizzy amasing! I am so lucky! Ok yes I know, enough with the exclamation marks…

I had no expectations of this city and I guess that’s why it surprised me in so many ways. Around 2 million people but not too big in scale so it’s easy to walk around, explore and just enjoy. You might end up in the botanical garden as I have been in the other cities 🙂

Kookaburra – this bird laughs. It simply laughs at you.

Lone Pine is the Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane. Spend a nice day with all the little fellas feeding them and petting them.

Don’t know really what this little dude thought of me, but he does have an expression in his face… Nope I can’t say what…it’s like a Mona Lisa smile

Met a couple from Chile and they dropped an invitation after a short talk to come over and see the movie they’be made. It was really good! They are renting a room where Lou Lou lives 🙂
Everybody – meet Lou Lou. You won’t find a sweetheart like her! Crazy (in a good way), cute, beautiful and just mwah!

One day we went out by boat and knee boarded! Awesome! And of course I kicked ass! Hehe

Byron Bay

Australia can’t be that big. 800km ago south I was in Blue Mountains. Ziv sees me in the streets of Byron and invites me to stayvin here house. I can’t say how much I appreciate to have kitchen and wc access as a normal person!
Laura I met in BMs aswell and we’be talked and knew that our ways might cross again here in Byron so I met her for a coffee. Wonderful!
Then finally the sun came, yes also last seen in BM!
So i went down and sat on the beach. After a long while, having watched the surfers, I looked up and saw somebody walking along the beach close to the water. I knew exactly who it was! Darryl! He and I also met in BM and did a day trekking together aswell. It was wonderful to see him again since i didn’t really know where he was heading or if he might’ve flown back to US already.
So we took a walk to the lighthouse and the most eastern point in Australia. It was a great sunny day with nice surprises 🙂

Well it was pretty windy and this beach has usually…well a beach! About 50m wide I reckon, from postcards I’ve seen. But not today. Look closely and you might see someone kite surfing.

These little buggers were glowing along my way up.

Now I told you it was windy up there..

Cashew welcome in to the game!

The handsome doctor said it wasn’t a spider bite and it’s not MS!

I say thank you to the cute German doctor! Whose clinic I just left. So my leg has been numb since I arrived in Byron and it just doesn’t stop. I’m alright, it doesn’t hurt or anything it is simply numb below my knee to my ankle. Wierd. It’ll probably go away but I’ve already had this for 5 days now.
The sun appears here more often! The crazy rain is turning to showers. Yay!

Blue Mountains, Sydney, Newcastle, Byron!

Meditation – what is that? Hard! Painful! And so good for you.
Now why did my meditation course have a bunch of rules? Because you have to focus. Focus on yourself only. That is easier said than done! So it is very helpful with the rules of not talking, no physical contact with anyone around you, no eyecontact either and no facial expressions. Imagine you are there alone. It was really hard from time to time.
So the thing is that I’m not enlighted or anything but I feel this was interesting and can be useful in my life. I have only meditated once afterwards but my hope is to start medidate regularly.

My stay in the Blue Mountains was great. Did plenty of trekking for 3 days and was lucky with weather as I had Sun sun sun!

Sometimes the tracks were somewhat muddy

And sometimes I had some obstacles to pass

But you get around and end up here and there

Sydney for the 2nd time

Went back to Sydney again with two girls, Bianca and Wana from Vipassana (the meditation course). Stayed in Cronulla which is a really nice suburb just by the water. Vivid festival is in Sydney at the moment, think last day is tomorrow. Was expecting more so a bit disappointed.

Stayed my last night with Wana and was glad to meet up with so many artists and hang around them. Wana draws – amazing stuff! The lady who’s place I crashed at is a painter. Her daughter is a singer in a band and they had a rehearsal that afternoon so half if the band showed up. I introduced some Greek songs by singing for a small crowd.

Newcastle

Brittish cities are found in Aus as well. This one is right by the coast, smaller than the European city and very beautiful. First activity was to whatch the live entertainment with everyone else down by the pier.

From time to time people came out from that last barrel. Awesome!

Good weather for such an activity!

My two nights in Newcastle I spent in this beauty! Love it! Everybody meet Clancy.

Time to leave Newcastle so I had a look at what activities where going on aroundme through couchsurfing.org. Rang a guy who was going from Sydney to Darwin along the East coast. Perfect. Made the call and catch on the high way towards Newcastle where he’ll be dropped from his ride. He was hitch hiking (hitched) and was only an hour and a half away. So I decide to meet him and try to go north together. I met his driver who dropped us on a good spot on the high way and we were trying to catch a ride

Now we changed the sign a couple of times cuz’ we didn’t necessarily have to get all the way to Brisbane. It is a long weekend here since it is the queens birthday on Monday so there was plenty of traffic, though lots of the cars were packed. After some time a dude stops and picks us up. He is from around there and just finished his work for the day. He seemed cool and asks us were we are heading, note he didn’t even notice that we were holding a sign with our direction. We say Byron Bay but as that is 600km we can follow along as north as you’ll be going. He says: I can take you to Byron.
The crazy part is not one but many. First, he lives just 15minutes from where he picked us up but out of nowhere decides to goto Byron Bay. He thinks it is “only” about 4 hours and can return the same day…evening. 2nd he is wearing his working clothes blue pants and an orange reflex shirt. He says along the way after 3 hours or so that he will probably just stay in Byron and leave in the morning. As we haven’t booked accomodation we are not really sure were we can stay. He says then: just stay in my room. Anyways. It all turned out pretty awesome and crazy in a good way. He is a cool dude and well generosity is pouring out of him.
He gave me my first dread:

I accidentally bumped in to another girl from Vipassana and now I’m staying at her place tonight and a couple of more. She and her boyfriend are off to Melbourne in the morning but we can stay here until they get back! Isn’t life too easy sometimes?

Byron Bay has an amazing vibes and is a very small town.
