Life isn't a business to be managed, it's a mystery to be lived!

..no, don’t worry. I wont do it in one post.

So June. Midsummer was coming up. Nice to reflect back on midsummer now when the degrees are touching zero.

21-26 June
I was excited to see my friend who I haven’t met for some years. Also I was excited to finally see the Highlands in Scotland. Who was there? So I flew in to Edinburg and was picked up by my friend and her fiance and my friends sister. The four of us took off to try to find our little shallet which was situated in Glenelg. Later on R’s friend joined us as well.
On our way, looking at the road signs I thought for a second I’m back in Perth. The road signs read Sterling and Perth! Haha, you realize this and that when you see this.

Continuing it was a great roadtrip to get there. The views are amazing with the super green highlands. I would not call them mountains just because they are so extremely green. It’s a great view for the eye.

Isle of Skye – the biggest island and of course a tour at the well known Tallisker distillery. Great.
Had a marvellous seafood dinner. I’ll say there is a difference in taste from the Pacific and the Atlantic but I will not say that any of it is bad! Seafood is the food!
To summarise we had a spectacular Swedish midsummer influated with a lot of Italian food!

So as some of you know my camera has had some bad trips along the way. Basically it works whenever it feels like 🙂 That’s fine because other people normally has something that they can capture a memory or two with. Unfortunately I haven’t received these pics so you’ll need to be satisfied with what I’ve got.

Edinburg
Finally I’ve got the great opportunity to visit this town that everyone keeps saying is sooo beautiful. I did get to see the exact same view and now I share the same opinion as the rest. Indeed it is a very beautiful city. I now understand why aswell.

For one things this town is old, Hogwarts old! And then it is in Scotland. And if you ever been in the country or met a Scot 😉 you would know they are friendly and fun people!

Glasgow
My second visit in this cool town. I really like it because it is simple. Nothing too extravagant. I wanted to visit this cemetary that is something beyond the ones we normally see. Necropolis. It literally means “city of the dead”. Situated on a hill, in the town, it makes the large graves even bigger. It is not known for who is buried here but who made the monuments.

It is always great to catch up with good friends. I had a lovely stay.

And so came the 26th and my second spider.
So I didn’t tell you about my spider experiences. I’ll keep them for later.

26th June Glasgow-Paris
Had a quick lunch in Paris while waiting for the time to get on my train that would take me to mustard-city – Dijon. Here I met up with a guy who I met travelling 3 years ago in Malaysia. I had an open ticket and the plan was to stay for 4-5 days and have a look at Bourgogne and what my friend is up to.

So I finally arrive in Dijon and G is waiting for me at the station. Really cool seeing him again. We took off to his place and there I met A, his flatmate. In the evening another friend came over T and we playd Street Fighter on Nintendo 8-bit! Love it!! Great start in France I say 🙂

The coming day we took a coffee in Montceau les Mines which is the closest town from where he lives.

I ordered a cap and got this with a mountain of cream..lucky G loves cream 🙂

In the afternoon we were going for dinner at his brother’s house and some friends where coming over as well. Now this is really sweet but as it was my birthday G had ordered a birthday cake for me.

This was a great surprise with a great bunch.

Since G is not on vacation he was working in Dijon the following day and I went along to see the city. Dijon has around 200 K people. But it does not remind me of Uppsala 😛 The shopping street begings with a symbol I’m familiar with from the capital city in this country.

Walking around here and there I found an owl on some places on the ground. I didn’t know what it was. I showed it later and found out the following. You can follow these and find an owl on a wall/corner. If you stroke it with your left hand and make a wish it will apparently come true.

I visited the Dijon Cathedral, the shopping street and some surroundings. It was a nice day.

The same day we returned to his home and the took off to Annecy. It’s a 3h drive south east towards the Alps and Italy. Strikingly beautiful with the low Alps, lakes and an old little town it is very romantic. We stayed here for the weekend.

The next day we drove around the lake.

In the evening we went to eat the famous Raclette. Mon Dieu! Cheese is good and this sure is yummie!

Ok this dish is served with various sausages or molded loaf meats sliced, hot potatoes and food onions and pickles. We forgot the potatoes completly and basically ate the whole cheese, on two people. Now I love cheese, though I’ve never eating as much as this night. So on our way back to the hotel I urgently needed to go to the ladies room…I sure did and I stayed there the whole night and the morning too… I had no idea. I must be a little sensitive to either lactose or milk protein. Now I know this from before that if I eat too much maybe I notice something. But I don’t care as I can live a normal life without thinking about it. How often do you eat this much?? Never!
Last day we check out and continue around the lake to find a castle we spotted the day before. But first we went for a late brekky, even if I really didn’t want to eat… This was our view over Annecy lake.

If you too want to visit the same spot come to:

We visited some caves nearby.

Here you can see how it is all built up. I will tell you this. The caves where pretty small. If you don’t like tiny places, don’t visit.

And here is St Bernard castle. And the view.

And then we drove back to Rozelay which is the little village where G lives. The plan was for me now to leave in one or two days. Though it was all pretty chill and there was this and that coming up the following week so it was possible for me to stay. Why not?
So I ended up staying 3 weeks instead of 4-5 days 🙂
